Costs
How much does it cost to build an antique log
home? Not as much as you might think. The costs are very competitive with conventional
construction. We provide the log structure, delivered to your site, erected, drilled for
wiring, with windows and door openings rough framed, with ceiling beams (if part of
package) installed and the structure squared and level, ready for your roof. Our charge
for this service begins at $30 per square foot of footprint area, per story, depending
upon the size, species, quality, craftsmanship, corner style and condition of the logs;
Typically, a 20' by 24' two-story log home, erected within 50 miles of Asheville, North
Carolina, would begin at about $28,800 (980 square feet total). If you wish us to provide
flooring/ceiling for the second floor (2" by 6" tongue and groove, single layer
spruce with a v-groove finish on the underside) this option will be pleased to provide you
with a quote.
These prices are for building your home within
50 miles of Asheville, but we can also deliver and erect your historic log cabin almost
anywhere in the U.S. Naturally, the farther away you are from our home base, the more the
cost. We would be pleased to provide you with a quote for our delivery and reconstructing.
We can also ship the disassembled and tagged antique cabin by truck along with diagrams
and photos to help your crew assemble it on your site. Please contact us for prices and
shipping costs.

Your Source For Beams
We also sell hand-hewn antique beams for
decorator and remodeling markets. You can use these antique hewn beams to provide a real
country look for your kitchen or den. Let us know your needs and we will provide you with
a close match from our inventory. We can arrange for shipping or delivery at an additional
charge. A typical beam will sell from $6.50 per lineal foot up, depending upon the size of
the beam and the length. Larger beams and longer beams are more difficult to find and the
per-foot cost increases with the size and length of the beam. Please contact us for our
current inventory or for a specific quote.
